Lisa Wood, LCSW
I was born and raised in the scenic beauty of Wisconsin and Michigan. Growing up, I found that I had a knack for lending an ear to others, which made me a trusted friend among my peers who sought comfort in my empathetic nature.
This early experience kindled in me a passion for helping others, leading me on a journey to unlock my full potential and make a difference in the lives of those seeking guidance. With a deep love for literature and a fascination with the human condition, I often lost myself in mystery novels and historical fiction, exploring the myriad narratives that mirror real-life challenges.
I recognized my calling early on and dived into the field of counseling, tirelessly working towards earning my Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) degree. My relentless pursuit of academic success led me to gain further qualifications, such as a Marriage and Family Therapist certificate. These accomplishments became the bedrock of my flourishing career in mental health.
Equipped with a wealth of knowledge and compassion, I embarked on my professional journey as a therapist at A Healing Place. My expertise spans across a broad spectrum of clients, from adolescents as young as twelve to the elderly, veterans, and individuals grappling with grief from various life events like death, divorce, and loss of independence.
Throughout my career, I have drawn strength and inspiration from the famous quote in the poem "Invictus": "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul." This belief underscores my conviction that everyone possesses the power to chart their own life path, navigating through stormy periods with resilience and determination.
In my personal life, I continue to feed my love for literature and the rich tapestry of human emotions through my hobbies. I enjoy reading mystery and historical fiction novels, crocheting, practicing the ancient art of bonsai, and biking along picturesque trails.
