Jennifer Vickers, LPC-IT
Hello, I'm Jennifer R Vickers, currently an intern pursuing my Masters in Counseling at Lakeland University, set to graduate in December 2024. My journey began in the Fox Valley, and after a formative period in Woodstock, IL, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois in Chicago. Though I spent a decade in corporate customer service, a switch to paraprofessional work in a classroom for students with Emotional Behavior Disorders illuminated my true calling as a counselor.
My passion lies in helping parents understand themselves to better support their children, as well as empowering women to recognize their worth and potential. I specialize in addressing depression, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, and relationship issues, working primarily with teens aged 15 and up, young adults, and women of all ages. My approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical behavior therapy, Positive Psychology, Person-Centered theory, and Narrative therapies, creating a supportive environment where clients feel safe to share and grow.
What sets me apart is my personal vision to live each day surrounded by supportive, fun, and authentic individuals. This vision fuels my mission to help others lead fulfilling lives. I strive to provide clients with revelatory insights that empower progress, believing deeply in each person's uniqueness. Building off my experience of applying the Flowcess® model for the mind and brain in the classroom, I love collaborating with clients to determine their uniqueness and how they can positively impact the world around them. I want to help clients understand the interactions between their minds, brains, and bodies.
Outside of work, my husband and I are enthusiastic foodies who cherish great conversations with friends. Once I complete my studies, we're eager to embark on more travel adventures. I'm also actively involved in my church, enjoying leadership roles and fostering growth through various programs. In my downtime, I love reading, learning, paddle boarding, and yoga.
I am committed to continual personal growth and learning, ensuring that I embody the principles I advocate for my clients. I look forward to guiding others on their journeys to self-discovery and empowerment.
