Chelsea Billick, Intern

We all have a story filled with accomplishments, failure, struggle and memories; both positive and/or negative. In the end, these moments make up our story and impact our lives in ways we may or may not have expected. My goal is to connect with you on a deeper level and provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to share your struggles. It is not always easy to talk about our areas of weakness, especially with someone new. I want you to feel as comfortable as possible and be able to be open, honest and feel safe.

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my practice and believe that through the change of behavior, we can learn to become the best versions of ourselves. Change can often make us feel uneasy and uncomfortable. These feelings may lead us to avoiding changes. Facing our fears of the unknown and experiencing discomfort can lead us to change.  Learning to embrace discomfort can be powerful and it shows that change is happening. In the therapeutic process, embracing discomfort should be encouraged as it can lead to major changes in our lives.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy explains that problems are based on our unhelpful patterns of ways we think and unhelpful learned patterns of behavior. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy involves efforts to change those unhelpful behavioral patterns. In changing how we think and behave, we can begin to make new pathways and patterns of living that are helpful and promote positive thinking and behaviors.

In a world full of judgment, being our true authentic selves requires us to be brave. We need someone to help guide us and hold us accountable to live a more productive life. I want to be this person for you. My goal is to therapeutically connect with you, understand you, and help you find peace and comfort. I believe no one deserves to struggle alone under any circumstance. I am here to work through these moments of emotional struggle and to help you learn and grow from them. To be part of an individual's therapeutic process is a privilege. Admitting our mistakes can be difficult, as it can come with guilt and/or shame. It is important to remember with each mistake comes education. We learn best from our mistakes. Let's learn and grow together.
