Alexandria Kreie-Yang, LCSW
My name is Alexandria Kreie-Yang, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for guiding individuals through their journeys of self-discovery and healing. Growing up in the small town of Merrill, Wisconsin, my atypical and chaotic family life instilled in me a resilience and curiosity about the world that set the foundation for my career. As a child, my fascination with crime books and TV shows gradually expanded to include a deep interest in psychology, sociology, and the complexities of human behavior.
While pursuing my MSW, I worked in a program that provided community services to individuals committed by the state for sexually violent behavior. This role didn't involve direct therapy but allowed me to collaborate closely with clients and their therapists. This experience was pivotal in inspiring me to pursue a career where I could make a meaningful impact.
With over 14 years in the social services industry and approximately 4-5 years practicing therapy, I specialize in working with adults involved in the criminal justice system. My experience extends to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, and more. My therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing, and I thrive on helping clients tackle trauma, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.
I hold a B.S. in Vocational Rehabilitation from UW Stout and an MSW from UW Green Bay. As a therapist, I believe in the power of humor, open-mindedness, and creativity to build authentic therapeutic relationships. I strive to offer a calm, nonjudgmental space for anyone seeking support in becoming the person they aspire to be.
Outside of my professional life, I am never bored. I love going on adventures, foraging, camping, kayaking, and gardening. Reading and traveling, especially to Upper Michigan and New Orleans, are also passions of mine. I enjoy listening to true crime and paranormal podcasts and cherish time with my husband and our two spirited sons.
